Meet Jennifer Sheean

Biography
A practice grounded in equity and trust law
Jennifer Sheean was called to the Queensland Bar in 2011, after working as Associate to the late Justice R. P. Meagher on the New South Wales Court of Appeal, practising as a solicitor, and lecturing for the College of Law.
Justice Meagher co-authored the standard equity text Equity: Doctrines and Remedies and co-edited Jacobs’ Law of Trusts. Jennifer assisted with updates to that text during her time as his Associate, and that grounding shaped a long-standing specialisation in equity and trust law.
Her practice has since extended into significant experience in wills and estates, including litigation, along with a keen interest in the taxation issues that arise around deceased estates and trusts. She also completed a Master of Laws in Maritime Law at the University of Queensland.
Today Jennifer practises from the Inns of Court in Brisbane’s legal precinct. She is a member the STEP Australia Policy and Advocacy Committee, is a current co-deputy chair at STEP Australia, sits as a Sessional Member of QCAT, and is an AMDRAS-accredited mediator: credentials she keeps active alongside a full practice.

Jennifer is a keen cyclist, a member of QAGOMA, the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, and a founding member of QPAC’s membership programme.
